Artist's Note
Well, this is not UltraMax music! These are
Countrybandists, an amazing Russian country / folk / blue grass band that
unfortunately no longer exists. These band performed live a lot both in
Russia and all over Europe, and performed well. Their repertoire ranged from
performances of American bluegrass and country songs to Russian and Slavonic
folk / traditional both vocal and instrumental. Banjo, mandolin, accordion,
guitar were their instruments which they played in a sound that ranged from
Kukuruza to Ivan Kupala. Vocal solos by Irina Gribova and Olga Golomedova
are mesmerizing! The band have had a good run, and if you like Russian folks
or bluegrass music - you will definitely enjoy this album!
Reviews
Slavonic folk music with elements of
bluegrass... as in "Yak pri luzhku" by the Russian band Countrybandists has
got the passion that not many groups from the USA are able to show.
-- Country Gazette, NL, 2000
Countrybandists... build a musical bridge
from Russia to America... I am exhilarated and moved by the way their music
embodies Russian strongest tradition of village choral singing.
-- Acoustic Guitar Magazine, 2002
